WILLIAM BATSON

William Edwards Batson, 72, of the 5800 block of Oak Terrace Drive, died Oct. 22, 1995, in his residence.

Mr. Batson was born in Pender Co., N.C., and was the widower of Tannie Newell Batson. He was retired president of Batson Plumbing Inc. in Virginia Beach. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Andy Wayne Batson.

Survivors include three daughters, Belinda K. Hudson of Suffolk, Sandra Hallem and her husband Clay of Virginia Beach, and Wanda Hurlburt and her husband Ralph of Virginia Beach; two sons, James E. Batson and his wife Sandy of Moyock, N.C., and Donald L. Batson and his wife, Florence of Suffolk; two sisters, Joyce E. Larson of Wilmington, N.C., and L. Frances Blanchard of Spring Hope, N.C.; one brother, John P. Batson of Salisbury, N.C.; aunt, Mary Tart of Wilmington, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and their relatives and dear friends.

A funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Paul D. Moore in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
