The rescued pilot of a downed Air Force F-15 will be reunited with his rescuer Wednesday at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base's Community Appreciation Day.
On April 15, Capt. Brian Udell was forced to eject from his jet during nighttime training 50 miles southeast of Wilmington.
Udell was found in the ocean, seriously injured, by an Elizabeth City-based Coast Guard helicopter crew.
Rescue swimmer Jim Peterson spent more than 30 minutes disentangling Udell from his parachute before he could be hoisted aboard the chopper.
Udell's rescue will be featured on an upcoming segment of ``Coast Guard: The Series,'' which airs locally on WTKR in Norfolk and WNCN in Raleigh. by CNB
