An 18-year-old man was arrested Monday and charged with trying to rob a downtown bank.
Adrian Maurice Scott of the 11000 block of Blair's Creek Drive was being held late Monday in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Suffolk. He is to be arraigned Wednesday in Isle of Wight Circuit Court for attempted robbery.
Police Chief Mark Marshall said a man, without a disguise, walked into the NationsBank on Main Street about 9:45 a.m. and handed a teller a note. The man threatened in the note to shoot the teller if his demand weren't met, Marshall said, but he did not display a gun.
The man left the bank, without money, as several witnesses watched. Scott was arrested later.
