It is difficult for me to understand why the media have not seen fit to repudiate the lies of Minister Farrakhan about the Jewish people, especially the vile accusation that the Jews have taken from the black community and have not given anything back. To name a few items that should open the eyes of the public to these slanderous remarks:
A Jew was one of the founders of the NAACP.
Jews were strongly involved in the civil-rights movement of the '60s, and many rabbis marched with Martin Luther King Jr. in Alabama and Mississippi.
Three Jewish boys gave their lives, murdered by the KKK, to help with voter registration in Mississippi.
Mr. Annenberg, a Jew, and former ambassador to Great Britain, gave $50 million to the United Negro College Fund.
Julius Rosenwald, chairman of Sears Roebuck in the '30s and '40s, was the first CEO to employ blacks in white-collar jobs in Sears stores and gave millions of dollars to black social and educational organizations.
The list goes on and on. There are may black leaders who have recognized Jewish contributions to black causes; unfortunately, their voices are drowned by the vicious clamor of the likes of Farrakhan.
