Dale Frederick Stringer, 72, of the 800 block of Clinton St., died Oct. 23, 1995, in his residence.
He was a retired Quarter Master Chief for the U.S. Navy for 21 years. He was also retired from the Virginia State Police after 20 years of service as a dispatcher. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach. He was very active with the church's food closet ministry. He was a past master of Willis V. Fentress Masonic Lodge (NU)296, former member of the Khedive Temple of the Shrine, and a member of V.F.W. in Tyrone, Pa. Mr. Stringer was a native of Tyrone, and he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Crain Springer.
He is survived by his stepson, Robert L. Crain of Virginia Beach; and two step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and a niece, Sandra L. Lucas of Tyrone.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Joseph T. Carson III in Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial is in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Friends may join the family at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, for visitation today from 7:30 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Memorial United Methodist Church, 804 Gammon Road, Virginia Beach, 23464. Masonic rites will be accorded at the church.
