Josephine Townsend Ashby, of the 3900 block of Lakeview Drive, died Oct. 23, 1995.
She was a native of Glen Cove, N.Y., and the loving wife of Emerson F. Ashby. She was a registered nurse and elementary school teacher. She retired to Chesapeake in 1992.
Mrs. Ashby is survived by her husband; two daughters, Colette Ashby Sadler of San Francisco, JoAnn L. Ashby of Uniondale Long Island, N.Y.; two nieces, Beverly Brewer of Houston, Texas, Tonia Bell Hendrix of Fresno, Calif.; plus many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Presbyterian Church in Roosevelt, Long Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Martha Davis Cancer Center, Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth. The body is being sent from Roger's Funeral Home to Burnett Funeral Home in Roosevelt.
