I'm trying to get some help: I have an exchange student who will be living with me for a year and I need to find out how I can get her into the commissary when I go shopping.
Technically, you can't. The exchange student is not an authorized shopper, and the student is a visitor. The Defense Commissary Agency directive states that visitors of authorized patrons are not allowed commissary privileges and should wait in a designated area while the shopper is shopping. If you have more questions, call Flo Dunn, public affairs specialist with the Defense Commissary Agency at Fort Lee, 734-8768.

Could you please tell me how one qualifies to have a destroyer named after him?
There aren't any set qualifications. Destroyers are generally named for naval heroes and leaders like John Paul Jones and Adm. Arleigh Burke, the chief of naval operations from 1955 to 1961. The bulk of the names seem to come from naval and Marine Corps medal of honor recipients. Traditionally, ships are not named after living people. However, there have been exceptions such as the Burke. The naming of ships is up to the secretary of the Navy.
Where in Spain is the naval station. Is it on the east coast on the mainland or in the Mediterranean on one of the Balearic Islands?
The naval station is located in the southwest portion of Spain.
If you want more information about naval stations in other countries, The Welcome Center at Janaf Shopping Center might be able to help you. They offer welcome-aboard packages from Navy bases throughout the world. by CNB
