The Million Man March demonstrated that African Americans desire to be part of the solution. We realize that we have a vested interest in the success of America, our families and ourselves.
The march demonstrated that we can assemble and pursue a peaceful purpose. It also demonstrated that we are cognizant of the problems in our communities. The economic and religious diversity of those who gathered demonstrated that we are willing to set aside differences to solve our social ills.
The march also should demonstrate to the current practitioners of racism that the architects of slavery past and present have failed miserably to suppress and destroy us.
The only way we can fail is to become what we despise.
