Mary Nelle Rountree, 74, formerly of W. Washington St., died Sunday, Nov. 5, 1995, in a Suffolk hospital.
She was a native of Nansemond County, Va., and a member of First Baptist Church, Suffolk. Mrs. Rountree was the daughter of the late Elisha Thomas Cross and Mary Elizabeth Duke Cross and the widow of James Gilma Rountree.
Survivors include two sons, J. Ronnie Rountree and E. Wayne Rountree, both of Suffolk; two sisters, Frances Bridges of South Hill, Va. and Mildred Smith of North Carolina; a brother, Charles Thomas Cross of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, by the Rev. Tim Piland. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Contributions may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad.
