Helen Rountree Aswell, 86, of the 4600 block of Adams Swamp Road, died Monday, Nov. 13, 1995, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Aswell was born in Gates County. The daughter of the late William J. and Mrs. Margaret Carter Rountree, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church, the Ida K. Brinkley Sunday school Class and the Women's Missionary Society. She was the wife of the late Hurley B. Aswell.
Surviving are one son, Charles E. Aswell and his wife, Brenda, of Suffolk; two sisters, Carrie R. Collins of Hobbsville and Gertrude R. Coward of Sunbury; and three granddaughters, Claire, Amy, and Crystal Aswell.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Eureka Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Morgan. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge or arrangements. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, 4565 Gates Run Drive, Suffolk. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Eureka Baptist Church.
