George Brown, 76, of the 500 block of Main St., died Nov. 13, 1995, in Maryview Medical Center.
He was a native of Norfolk County, Va., and was a member of New First Baptist Church, in the Taylorsville section of Portsmouth.
He is survived by his son, Linwood Cherry of Portsmouth; sister, Mary Patillo of Portsmouth; five brothers, George Newsome of Philadelphia, Leon Newsome of New York, Roosevelt Newsom, Paul Brown and William Brown, all of Portsmouth; one grandchild; two brothers-in-law, Alexander Roberts, Horace Patill, both of Portsmouth; a special friend, Hattie Bonds of Portsmouth; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by Dr. T.M. Steele in New First Baptist Church, Taylorsville. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. A viewing will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Serenity Funeral Home.
