The Isle of Wight Sheriff's Department has received two state grants totaling $11,200 to expand the county's DARE drug-prevention program and to deter auto theft in the county.
The $9,800 DARE grant is to fund expanded DARE program activities like the new parent-awareness program recently implemented by the department. This grant was awarded after the Sheriff's Department applied for financial assistance.
The other award is a $1,400 HEAT grant (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) from the Virginia State Police to assist with HEAT presentations. by CNB
