Roberta Aleph Johnson, formerly of the 1400 block of Lead St., died Saturday, Nov. 18, 1995, in Lafayette Villa Nursing Center.
She was a retired teacher for Norfolk Public Schools after 40 years of service. She was a native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late Richard and Alice Reed Johnson. She was a member of First Baptist Church, 418 Bute St. Ms. Johnson was very active in all phases of church life during her many years of membership. Among them were Dorcus Class and the Do ``All You Can'' Club. She was also a graduate of Virginia State College, now Virginia State University, and received her masters degree from Columbia University.
She is survived by a sister, Willie Lee Flowers of Chicago; a brother, James Haywood Johnson of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews, among them, Mabel Hoggard and Mildred Barnes, both of Virginia Beach.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church by Dr. Robert G. Murray.Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Friday. The family will assemble at the church at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
