Columnist Thomas Sowell expressed my sentiments exactly in his piece Nov. 18 about shutting down the government over two bucks a week. That's the difference between the Republican and Democratic plan for Medicare premiums.
President Clinton for political gain tried to scare the old people and blames the Republicans for ``impoverishing the grandmothers and grandfathers.'' He is dishonest, and most folks know it.
In the budget impasse, Mr. Clinton would ``defend education'' from the proposed Republican streamlining. More money does not equate to better education, and Clinton is paying off the National Education Association for supporting him in his election campaigns.
