Jesse M. Monroe, 77, of the 3500 block of Maori Drive, died Dec. 1, 1995, in Sentara Nursing Center, Portsmouth.
He was a retired Rabbi and member of the Church of God, Saints of Christ, Belleville, Suffolk. He was a native of DeLand, Fla.
He is survived by his sister, Esther M. Monroe of Chesapeake; brother, John H. Monroe of Washington, D.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday by Rabbi Curtis Caldwell in Church of God, Saints of Christ. Burial will be in Belleville Cemetery, Suffolk. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 6 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Sunday.
