The Hampton Roads Sharks put it all on the line at 4 p.m. today in the Mason-Dixon Football League championship game against the Fredericksburg Generals.
The game is being played at Fredericksburg's Maury Stadium and the winner advances to next Saturday's East Coast Regional Bowl game against the Baltimore Renegades at Virginia Beach's Center for Effective Learning Stadium.
For the Sharks (13-1), the game presents an opportunity to avenge the only loss of the season - a 28-20 decision in front of a packed house at CEL on Sept. 30.
``I don't mind playing up there,'' Sharks owner T.J. Morgan said. ``We don't seem to have the right synergy at home because all the guys are coming in at different times. When we're on the road, we have time together to develop good synergy and we really seem to play better.''
Hampton Roads will need every element it can find against a hot Generals (10-1) team that has scored 115 points in its last two games - including a 66-20 drubbing of Peninsula in a Mason-Dixon semifinal.
``They are a super-charged team with a high-octane offense,'' Morgan said. ``They have a great program and everybody's done a great job.
``This is definitely the biggest game of the year.''
Kevin Johnson will move back into the starting quarterback slot after orchestrating last week's semifinal comeback victory over the Richmond Ravens.
Running back James Rogers, who scored all three touchdowns in that win, will lead the running attack. by CNB
