ORA A. DAVIS

Ora Atkins Davis, 90, died Dec. 5, 1995, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk.

Mrs. Davis was a native of Isle of Wight County. She graduated from Farmville State Teachers College. She was a retired school teacher having taught school for 24 years in Southampton, Isle of Wight, Warwick and Sussex County Public Schools. She also worked as a secretary/dental assistant for Dr. T. Wood Cambell and Dr. L.S. Stetson, radiologist at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Windsor Baptist Church and a former member of Millfield Baptist Church in Ivor having served as the church clerk, president of the Women's Missionary Union, and a member of Group 4, Blackwater Women's Missionary Union. She was the widow of Garland Murrell Davis.

She is survived by a niece, Gladys B. Rose of Windsor; three great-nieces, Sandra R. Cofield of Portsmouth; Gwen R. Noles of Greenville, N.C.; Nancy R. Marshall of Windsor; great-nephew, Andy L. Rose of Walters; three great-great-nieces; two great-great-nephews; and two cousins.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery in Windsor by the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr. on Thursday at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends at 25 Bank St., Windsor, tonight. Memorial donations may be made to Windsor or Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, is handling the arrangements.
