An elderly woman was killed and her granddaughter suffered smoke inhalation Tuesday night after a fire broke out in a home in the Level Green section of the city.
The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
A fire department spokesman said the woman who died was 78.
The granddaughter, 39, was treated at the scene.
The fire, in the 1000 block of Tradewinds Road, was reported about 10 p.m. It took firefighters about 5 minutes to bring the flames under control.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
