I've read with some amusement the recent articles and letters regarding the name of the new Canadian Football League coming to southeastern Virginia. Will they be the Hampton Roads Pirates, the Tidewater Pirates or the Norfolk Pirates?
Perhaps we can take our lead from Gilbert and Sullivan's ``Pirates of Penzance.'' Due to a pronunciation misunderstanding, the young hero was sent off to be a pirate when he really wanted to be a pilot. So we could encourage the new team to call themselves the Virginian Pilots. It would assure great press coverage!
