SELMA J. BYRUM

Selma Joyner Byrum, 80, of 14540 Five Forks Road, died Dec. 5, 1995, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.

Mrs. Byrum, the widow of Percy Elton Byrum Sr., was a homemaker. She was a native of Isle of Wight County, Va., and a member of Pine Grove Assembly of God, Windsor.

Survivors include four sons, Percy Elton Byrum Jr. of Carson, Va., Thomas Roland Byrum of Zuni, John Henry Byrum and Richard Lee Byrum, both of Windsor; four sisters, Dorothy J. Ferguson and Edith J. Edwards, both of Portsmouth, Ruby J. Hinson and Erma J. Barnes, both of Hampton; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert Earl Byrum Sr.; and her parents, Sarah Naomi Lewis Joyner and Thomas Quincy Joyner.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home, Suffolk, by the Rev. Murlen Brasted. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and other times at the residence and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Grove Assembly of God, 1001 Fire Tower Road, Windsor, Va. 23487.
