Sudie Roughton Umphlette, 86, of Route 1, died Dec. 6, 1995, in Brian Center Health and Retirement Center, Windsor, N.C.
Mrs. Umphlette, the widow of Willie Umphlette, was a native of Tyrrell County, N.C. She was a homemaker and a member of Columbia Baptist Church, Columbia, N.C.
Survivors include three daughters, Cora Vaughan of Colerain, N.C., Mae Cummings of Ahoskie, and Ilida Toussaint of Chesapeake; a son, Eddie Lawrence of Ahoskie; a sister, Stella Rhodes of Columbia; two brothers, Cecil Roughton, Clarence Roughton, both of Columbia; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Ronald McSwain. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today, and other times at the home of Viola Lawrence, Route 1, Ahoskie.
