MARY M. TUCKER

Mary M. Tucker, of 10707 New Road, died Dec. 4, 1995, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital.

She was a native of Southampton County. Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Pearl Harris Bowers and her husband, Willie W. Tucker Sr. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Gilfield Baptist Church, Ivor.

She is survived by six daughters, Eunice Thornton of Wakefield, Va., Shirley Broady of Newport News, Phyillis Fields and Clarissa Thompson, both of Philadelphia, Gloria Eley of Ivor, and Carolyn Edwards of Zuni, Va.; three sons, Willie W. Tucker Jr. of Fort Bragg, N.C., Darnell Tucker of Windsor, Va., Andrew Tucker Sr. of Suffolk; three sisters, Bertha Williams of Norfolk, Blanche Davis of Portsmouth, and Alice B. Brown of Chesapeake; brother Ernest Bowers of Zuni; 21 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Gilfield Baptist Church by the Rev. Eustice E. Mitchell Jr. Burial is in Gilfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The remains of Mrs. Tucker will lie in state from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
