Mae Gill Mewborn, 83, died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 6, 1995, in her residence.
Mrs. Mewborn was retired food service manager with the Mecklenburg County School System for 26 years, a charter member of the South Hill Junior Women's Club, a member of the Prestwould Chapter of the D.A.R. and a charter member of the Hillcrest Garden Club. Mae was also a member of the First Baptist Church of South Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Harry Mewborn.
Survivors include two sons, Col. Warren Mewborn, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), of Williamsburg and R. Harry Mewborn of Franklin, Va.; two daughters, Yvonne Bugg of South Hill and Mary Ellen M. Shrader of Roanoke, Va.; also surviving are 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. today in Oakwood Cemetery by Dr. Walter Laseter. The family suggests that memorial consideration may be directed to the South Hill Fire Department, 114 North Brunswick Avenue, South Hill, Va. 23970 or the Prestwould Chapter of the D.A.R., 610 North Brunswick Ave., South Hill, Va. Farrar Funeral Home is in charge.
