The captain of the Norfolk-based guided-missile frigate Clark was relieved of command Friday after a civilian court hearing in Virginia Beach on a charge of indecent exposure.
Cmdr. Bruce J. Cuppett, 45, commanding officer of the Clark since September 1994, has been temporarily reassigned to shore duty pending a final decision by the chief of naval personnel.
Cuppett was charged Oct. 11 with exposing himself to a neighbor Sept. 25 at his Virginia Beach home. A judge Wednesday issued no finding in the case, electing to defer the matter for a year. If during that time Cuppett's driving and police record have no new infractions, the charge will be dismissed. by CNB
