History comes to life as Vince Hawkins of Springfield fires a

3-pound cannon during a re-enactment to commemorate the 220th

anniversary of the Battle of Great Bridge, which occurred on Dec. 9,

1775. Military demonstrations were held at the Chesapeake Central

Library on Cedar Road on Saturday.
