Your editorial on Governor Allen's Family Savings Initiative and major new VHDA homeownership financing measures shed light in the promising history of bipartisanship that continues to make the Commonwealth a national leader in housing policy.
Giving lower-income Virginians the chance to control their destiny by fostering asset accumulation for their families and an ownership stake to secure their neighborhoods is an idea whose time has arrived. Commendations to The Virginian-Pilot for daring to venture forth in civic journalism and important policy discourse, and for profiling the ingenuity and enterprising contributions of the citizens of our Commonwealth's neighborhoods.
