Earnest C. Jenkins, 62, of 421 Hall St., died Dec. 15, 1995, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Franklin. Mr. Jenkins was the son of the late Paul and Ruby Jenkins, and the husband of Lillie M. Jenkins. He retired as a maintenance worker of the Forest Pine Apartments after 35 years. He was a member of Old Cool Spring Baptist Church and its men's choir.
Survivors are his wife, Lillie M. Jenkins; four sons, Christopher Boone of Franklin, Tony Jenkins, and Earnest Jenkins Jr. of Brooklyn N.Y., Ronnie Jenkins of Raleigh, N.C.; nine daughters, Rose Boone, JoAnn Jenkins, Rhonda J. Benton, Candice Jenkins of Franklin, Rosella Urquhart, Doris Wiggins of Brooklyn, Earnestine Cherry of Ahoskie, Shirly Jackson of Suffolk, and a custodial daughter, Kimberly Jenkins of Franklin; 19 grandchildren; a brother, Charles Jenkins of New Jersey; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Micheal Jenkins, and a daughter, Audrey Jenkins.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Goodwyn. Burial is in Southview Cemetery. Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
