As a retired internal medicine physician who saw many geriatric patients, I was delighted to read ``A gift for seniors'' (editorial, Dec. 14) regarding the $2 million gift of Virginia Glennan Ferguson to establish the Glennan Center for Geriatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Dr. John Franklin has been the director of the EVMS geriatric and gerontology program since its inception. Through his dedicated service, it has remained in operation, and he has trained hundreds of medical students in the respect and care of elderly patients. Praise should be given to Dr. Franklin and his supportive wife, Frannie.
