I don't have a degree, but after reading about the phenomenal, perplexing traffic problem that is breaking all the rules in Hampton Roads, I feel qualified for a Nobel Prize in traffic engineering.
All the city fathers, mothers and brothers are interested in is the almighty dollar, with its taxes and revenues. They want millions of tourists, then don't know what to do with them when they get here except tax them and take their vacation money away.
When they were building the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, why didn't they build a second one beside it when they had all the equipment right there?
When they build roads like Holland and Lynnhaven Parkway, why not build overpasses instead of installing traffic lights?
The interstate from Virginia Beach to the naval base is still under construction after some 20-odd years.
They keep trying to bring more industry into the area. With all the military being relocated here, what do they think will be brought with them for transportation, rickshaws and bicycles?
You can't pour 10 gallons of water into a 5-gallon bucket.
