BOSNIAN PERILS

Picture rows of U.S. flag-draped coffins at Andrews Air Force Base containing the remains of American military personnel. I expect to see this on the nightly news within the next six months.

I am amazed that we have decided with so little opposition and so little debate to get involved with ground forces in Bosnia. For four years all we have heard is how irresponsible it would be to send our troops there.

Before making this commitment, which I am sure we will regret, we should ask the families of the 242 American Marines killed in Beirut in 1983 if they think this is a good idea.

I would sooner see President Clinton send the Peace Corps, led by his wife and a delegation of the media that seem so in favor of this action.
