Tourists are turned off by city's towing policy
Within 10 minutes of reaching Virginia Beach last August, our car was towed and impounded. I sincerely believe the facts would indicate that we didn't violate any parking regulations. After talking with the manager of the parking lot, the towing company, the police and several other individuals it was obvious to me that tourists are easily and regularly subjected to this type of misfortune.
Because we knew that we were taken advantage of we could not feel comfortable in staying in Virginia Beach. We were heading west within three hours of arriving there. The towing incident took 2.5 hours. For the sake of innocent tourists, I hope that your town can find a way to make sure the towing companies are doing an honest business.

Thanks for the light show
I thoroughly disagree with Christine Ross's complaint (Dec. 8 Beacon) about the holiday lights the city erected at the beach.
We have taken three carloads of people (so far) down to enjoy those beautiful lights. We drove right to the area and it wasn't bad - we had patience and fun in the car waiting because it was worth it. Better than sitting at home watching TV.
It's time our taxes are going to do something that all ages can enjoy. In our car we had ages from 2 years old up to 72 years - and we all were oohing and aahing.
Thanks, Virginia Beach!

Perfect gift for schools
Since this is the season for giving to others, I have the perfect gift for the School Board to give to the citizens of Virginia Beach. Although it is quite expensive, you will find that one size fits all; it contains integrity, honesty, morals and loyalty that will last for years to come.
Everyone including parents, children, and especially the employees of the Virginia Beach School System will benefit from this gift. What is the gift that keeps on giving year after year for the School Board? Dr. James Pughsley, Superintendent of Virginia Beach Schools.
