Virginia Beach Third Precinct police officers helped save a
Christmas party for fourth- and fifth-grade students Thursday after
someone broke into three portable classrooms at Bettie F. Williams
elementary school and stole the kids' presents and holiday snacks.

The thief also stole two 20-inch televisions sometime between
Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The officers rounded up gifts
donated by catalog company Lillian Vernon and delivered them in time
for the party. Police ask anyone with information on the theft to
call 427-0000.
