Doris Pierce Edwards, 79, of Gwynn, died Monday, Dec. 25, 1995.
She was a native of Mathews County and member of Gwynns Island Baptist Church. She retired after 20 years of service as post master of Gwynn.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, R. Stewart Edwards; daughter, Elizabeth E. Scloter of Richmond; two sons, Sammy Edwards of Gwynn, Bobby Edwards of Cobbs Creek; a sister, Mabel Simpson of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. Burial will follow in the Gwynns Island Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513 or to the Matthews Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mathews, Va. 23109.
