On behalf of the Pungo Strawberry Festival, chairman Jake Jacocks recently presented a $1,000 donation to the Salvation Army to be used for the charity's 1995 Angel Tree campaign.
The Angel Tree project, co-sponsored by WVEC-TV, provides clothing for more than 10,000 under-privileged children in Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake each Christmas.
The festival's donation will allow the Salvation Army to provide clothing this Christmas to more than 80 needy children whose names were not picked from the Angel Trees in area stores.
The Pungo Strawberry Festival, held annually on Memorial Day weekend, has donated more than $151,000 to area charities and community service groups since it started in 1983. by CNB
