Louis Jacob Carr, 71, of the 900 block of Spaulding Drive, died Dec. 25, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Norfolk and was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church, where he was in the chancellor choir and male chorus. He was a member of the Eureka Lodge, Leisure Club, and was a World War II veteran. He was a retired state Alcohol and Beverage Board manager with 34 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Carr; two sons, Lewis J. Carr Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa., Lucaster Carr of Philadelphia; two stepsons, Dr. Earl Lewis of Aurbor, Mich., Randolph C. Lewis of Marlton, N.J.; four sisters, Pearl Colin of New Orleans, Esther Carr, Elizabeth Holley and Wanser Smith, all of Norfolk; two brothers, William Carr of Portsmouth and James Carr of Norfolk; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Esther and William Carr.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in St. John A.M.E. Church, Bute Street, by the Rev. I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. Friday. Hale Funeral Home in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
