Gladys Wilson Thom of the 1700 block of Weaver St., died Dec. 29, 1995, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
She was born in Norfolk County and was site manager of SEVAMP Senior Citizen Services at Koger Executive Center in Norfolk for 20 years. She was a member of St. James AME Church, Berkley, the Stewardess Board, Missionary Society, Gospel Choir and a student at Seminary of The Apostles for two and one-half years. She worked with voters registration for the city of Chesapeake for more than 20 years and was a member of Broadlawn Civic League for more than 32 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Jacqueline W. Hall and Elizabeth T. Perry of Chesapeake, and Gwendolyn C. Fletcher of Virginia Beach; two sons, James A. Thom III and Brandon R. Thom of Chesapeake; four sisters, Evelyn W. Woodard, Sarah W. Freeman and Janet W. Hays of Norfolk and Shirley A. Wilson of Chesapeake; a brother, Melvin F. Wilson of Harrisburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Gayle A. Thom, a son-in-law, Larry D. Perry Sr., both of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. James AME Church, Berkley by the Rev. William A. Dyson Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Fitchett Funeral Home is in charge.
