Mary Elizabeth Hawkins, 78, of the 100 block of W. Leicester Ave., died Dec. 30, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
She was retired from CINCLANT Fleet Headquarters with the Navy Exchange. She was a Baptist and a native of Powellsville, N.C.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis H. Allgood and Richard Allgood of Chesapeake; two sisters, Kitty Jamerson of Coinjock, N.C., and Louise V. Ferguson of Reynolds-burg, Ohio; granddaughter, Renee A. Schoenthal, and her husband, Alex H. Schoenthal; two great-grandchildren, Travis Schoenthal and Ashley Schoenthal; 16 nieces and nephews; and 26 great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. George Boyd in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 160 W. Leicester Ave., Norfolk. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
