GRACE C. DAVENPORT

Grace Cosby Davenport, 73, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1996, in the Albemarle Hospital.

She was a native of Hampton, Va., and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Garland Cosby IV and Alberta Williams Cosby, and the widow of Edward Victor Davenport.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn D. Baker of Chesapeake and Sandra D. Hyle of Carrollton, Va.; one son, Edward V. Davenport Jr. of Southern Shores, N.C.; sister, Olive Cosby Mason of Hampton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Shiloh Baptist Church by the Rev. John Luton. Burial will follow in Old Hollywood Cemetery in Elizabeth City. Friends may join the family at her residence, 125 Shore Drive, Shiloh, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 1407, Greenville, N.C. 27835-1407. Twiford Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
