Viola Shrader Nance, 73, of Bedford, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996, at her residence.
She was born in Amherst County on Aug. 20, 1922, a daughter of the late James William Shrader and Annie Laura Foster Shrader. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Parker, and her second husband, McHenry Nance. She was a member of Bedford Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Francis R. and Sue J. Nance of Virginia Beach; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Daniel Heilig and George H. Heilig Jr. of Norfolk; brother, J. Calvin Shrader of Bedord; grandchildren, McHenry J. Nance of Virginia Beach, George H. Heilig III, Laura H. Marshall; and grandson-in-law, Jamie P. Marshall of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford, with the Rev. David L. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the National D-Day Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 77, Bedford, Va. 24523. The family will receive friends at the residence following the service.
