Charles William Collins, 65, of Gills Road, died Jan. 5, 1996, in a Portsmouth hosptial.
He was a native of Steubenville, Ohio, and was retired from Moon Engineering where he was a foreman electrician. He was also retired from the U.S. Navy-EM1 after 20 years.
He is survived by his mother, Ann Marie Collins of Ohio; wife, Katherine J. Collins; three stepdaughters, Doris and husband, Larry Westman of Northern Neck, Va., Betty and husband, Hayden Rice of Northern Neck, Va., Theresa and husband, Danny Hunt of Portsmouth; five stepsons, Tony DiGiovanni, Michael DiGiovanni, Stephen DiGiovanni, Joseph DiGiovanni, and Glenn Phillips, all of Portsmouth; and 16 step grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. T.M. Frye. Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
