On Monday, the Nags Head Board of Commissioners extended a ban on adult entertainment establishments for three more months to give town officials additional time to study the issue.
The board already has prohibited adult establishments for a year.
Commissioner Bob Muller cast the sole vote against the extension. Under draft regulations, at least two parcels of land could conform to requirements that would allow adult establishments, town Planning Director Gary Ferguson said.
In other business Monday, the commissioners:
Tabled a vote on amending regulations regarding the rebuilding of cottage courts. Commissioners want to meet with cottage court owners in mid-March to reconsider the issue, they said.
Unanimously approved a conditional-use application for the Christian Science Society to construct a 674-square-foot building on a lot at the corner of Danube Street and the U.S. Route 158 bypass. The property borders Old Nags Head Cove subdivision.
Heard a report about the town's new automated garbage-collection program, which will begin Feb. 12 for all residential properties along the beach road and for residents of South Nags Head who are not proposed to be served by dumpsters. The town is starting the program to save money and ease efforts required by garbage collectors. by CNB
