Rev. Hal L. Saunders, 75, of the 100 block of Dale Drive, died Jan. 8, 1996, in a nursing home.
He was a retired minister and painter and was a native of Gates County, N.C. He was a member of Fourth Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Saunders; seven daughters, Freddie Ann Johnson, Delores Sawyer, Leah Jackson, Gertrude Saunders, Lillian Orton, Queen Saunders, and Ellen Saunders; six sons, Hal Saunders Jr., William Saunders, Lloyd Saunders, Paul Saunders, Vernon Saunders, Quintin Saunders; five stepdaughters; two stepsons; three sisters, Lucille McCullough, Ruth Waters, and Lillie B. Turner; a brother, Otis Saunders; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Charles Beamon in Fourth Baptist Church. Burial is in Lincoln Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge.
