Among the changes in the New Year for which your readers may wish an explanation is the retiring of ``Around Town,'' a community bulletin board sponsored for the past three years by Lynnhaven Lincoln Mercury.
During my two-year association with the column, I met and photographed dedicated professionals who work for nonprofits, philanthropists, artists, a past U.S. president and a myriad of selfless volunteers who give so generously to our community.
The ``Around Town'' forum enhanced exposure for many organizations that otherwise could not have afforded advertising space. I am grateful to Bill Shepherd, Charles Odom and the Lynnhaven Lincoln team for promoting our community this way. I am grateful, too, to all who support the events and organizations that help strengthen the quality of life in Hampton Roads.
