James Jarvis Copeland, 63, of Route 1, Box 579, died Friday morning, Jan. 12, 1996, in Albemarle Hospital.
A native of Perquimans County, he was the son of the late Luther Darvis Copeland and Mary Roberson Copeland. He was a retired farmer, a member and deacon of Chappell Hill Baptist Church, member of Belvidere-Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. and Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Jordan Copeland; daughter, Jane C. Bunch of Tyner; three sons, Phillip Copeland, Luther Copeland, and Martin Copeland, all of Tyner; four sisters, Margaret C. Jordan of Tyner, Lillie Belle Ogle of Virginia Beach, Lois Peele and Linda Evans, both of Edenton; brother, Clifton Copeland of Tyner; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Hollis J. Copeland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Chappell Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Armstrong and the Rev. Don English. Burial will follow in the Copeland Family Cemetery with Swindell Funeral Home of Hertford in charge of arrangements.
