Harry L. Bailey Jr., 78, of 1057 Highway 17 South, Elizabeth City, died at Norfolk General Hospital on Sunday, Jan. 14, 1996.
A native of Pasquotank County, N.C., Mr. Bailey was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 6060 and Calvary Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Harry L. and Irene Brothers Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was lovingly survived by his wife of 49 years, Mildred Spencer Bailey, of the home. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Nancy E. Bailey of Lexington, S.C., and Irene B. Overton of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two sons, Harry L. ``Woody'' Bailey III and Marvin S. Bailey, both of Elizabeth City; and four grandchildren, Jomie, Shawn, Bryant, and Blake Bailey, all of Elizabeth City.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1996, at 11 a.m. in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, with Dr. Roy Head officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bill Bailey. Visitation will be this evening at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
