Glen Montgomery, at right in photo above, of the National Marine
Fisheries Service, puts a microchip under the skin of a loggerhead
turtle held by Elizabeth Plymell, an aquarist at the North Carolina
Aquarium on Roanoke Island. The microchip, at right, details turtle
measurements taken by scientists during encounters like this week's
beachings along the Outer Banks. Three turtles with microchips were
to be released into Gulf Stream waters today.
