Carolyn Dixon Coppedge, 45, of the 1800 block of Lansing Ave., died Jan. 15, 1996, in Maryview Hospital.
She worked for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 12 years. She was a native of Portsmouth and a member of Holy Trinity Church (NU)1 where she was a member of the senior chorus and a Sunday school secretary. She was also assistant financial secretary of the church. She was a 1968 Graduate of I.C. Norcom High School and a 1972 Graduate of Norfolk State University.
She is survived by her mother, Queen E. Dixon of Portsmouth; father, Elder James W. Dixon of Portsmouth; seven sisters, Mary Ellis, Gloria J. Ingram, Shera Parker, all of Portsmouth, Col. (Ret.) Rev. Ernestine ``Tina'' Dixon-Bartlett of Sun Valley, Las Vegas, Brenda Lee Hempstead of New York, (Ret.) Sgt., Linda Ford of Columbia, Ga., Cynthia Madkins of Chesapeake; brother, Master Sgt. James W. Dixon Jr. of Dalzell, S.C.; paternal grandmother, Emma Dixon of Columbia, Md.; ex-father and ex-mother-in-law, Warren and Ethel Coppedge; 21 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, close friends, and her church family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by Bishop Samuel Bess in Holy Trinity Church (NU)1. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake.
