Rev. Nolton ``N.R.'' Hill Jr., 73, of the 100 block of Bow St., died Jan. 16, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.
He was the former engineer with the City of South Norfolk. He was a retired engineer with the City of Chesapeake Public Works. He was a native of Portsmouth and was an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was instrumental in the purchase and construction of Lavender Memorial Church. The church later became the New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Edna R. Hill; three sons, Nolton R. Hill III of Virginia Beach, Gurney E. Hill of Virginia Beach, David G. Hill of Chesapeake; brother, Robert R. Hill of Brandon, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon today by the Rev. Daniel J. Campbell, the Rev. W.L. Mayo Jr., and the Rev. Norwood Starling, in New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial is in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3310 Indian River Road, Chesapeake, 23325.
