GEORGE W. LEIGH JR.

George W. ``Bill'' Leigh Jr., 57, a retired high school teacher, died Jan. 21, 1996, in Virginia Beach.

Mr. Leigh was born in Portsmouth and was raised in the early years of his life in Southampton County, Va. He was retired from the Norfolk public schools after 27 years. He taught at Granby, Lake Taylor and Norview High Schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Randolph-Macon College and earned his master's degree at the University of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruby Johnson Leigh and George W. Leigh.

Survivors include two sons, Michael S. Leigh and Mark B. Leigh, both of Virginia Beach.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. Richard Baker. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Norfolk Unit, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
