Mr. Harry Edward Butcher Jr., 70, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 1996. He was a native of Princeton, N.J.
Mr. Butcher retired from R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home as a funeral director and embalmer after 27 years of service. He retired the second time from Riverside Regional Medical Center Protection Services after 12 years of service. Mr. Butcher served as an Army Paratrooper during the invasion of Normandy with the 101st Airborne Division.
Survivors include his daughter, Ann Doughtie of Suffolk; three sons, Harry Edward Butcher III of Suffolk, John W. Porter and Michael W. Porter, both of Newport News; his sister, Katherine Moulds of Suffolk; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bethlehem, Christian Church Cemetery, Suffolk by the Rev. Gerald Showalter.
